The annual book reviews for the website of Jancis Robinson, Master of Wine were recently published on her website and the fully-revised second edition of Vinologue Priorat received very high praise including, “…every wine region deserves an enotourism guide of this calibre, and every wine traveller wants a wine guide this good.”
The review also makes note of the depth of the guide–which holds profiles for 114 producers in Priorat as well as tasting notes and scores for 380 of their wines, “[the author] Hudin has somehow managed to cram a whack of information in without it feeling crowded.”
And the core purpose of the Vinologue guide series to focus on the wines foremost was quite clear to the reviewer, “The clean, elemental yet sharp practicality of this guide is ingenious. There is no fat on these pages, no frothy extraneous information, and it really is all about the wine.”
The review closes with, “What is unique about this guide is the brilliant insight that Hudin has into the mind of the producer and the mind of the traveller, and how, with this little book, he manages to get them both on speaking terms. More than a travel writer, he’s a bridge builder, an emissary.”
We at Vinologue are extremely pleased to hear such praise. We enjoy using this book to travel and taste around DOQ Priorat as much as those who are first time visitors or devotees to the wonderful wines emerging from this corner of Catalonia.
